Experience an Alternative Christmas in India with Wild Frontiers

With the news that India is reopening its doors to foreign tourists in time for Christmas, there is no better time to book an escape. The Executive Explorer shows you how India can provide a truly alternative option for a winter break in the sun.

India, a country of many contrasts, is a fascinating destination to visit. With its bustling cities, colourful bazaars, wide and expansive countryside and glorious winter sunshine.

Founder of Wild Frontiers, Jonny Bealby, has travelled extensively to over 100 countries and India is his favourite destination. He comments:

‘’We are absolutely thrilled with this news. India has long been a firm favourite destination with our clients here at Wild Frontiers. Not only is it hugely important to them, but also to our business and of course the many businesses we support there. India was so badly hit by Covid-19, but having done such a great job of vaccinating its population – injecting more that 20 million people in a single day back in September – the worst of Covid seems to be very much behind the country now, and we hope that confidence will be restored now that it is opening again to international tourists.

‘’India is a wonderfully diverse country to visit. From the serene beaches of Kerala to the many medieval forts, palaces and tigers of Rajasthan, India provides a great destination for sightseeing, action and winter sun. I will be heading out there later this month to visit our team in Delhi, meet some of our guides and to check out some of our more popular hotels. I am so looking forward to getting back to my favourite destination’’.

Explore the Taj Mahal, Temples & Tigers in Rajasthan

Taking place from 19th Dec 2021 – 2nd Jan 2022 (15 Days), this magical tour has been designed to give guests a balanced, varied and full experience of the state of Rajasthan and of India over the Christmas period. From Delhi, visit the iconic Taj Mahal in Agra before criss-crossing south to Udaipur, taking in some of the most famous highlights this part of India is so well known for on the way. Guests will see another side of this colourful state with its rural villages, out of the way temples, hidden lakes and spectacular hilltop forts. Following busy days exploring, guests can retreat to comfortable and characterful accommodation in charming, family-run heritage hotels.

There will be the chance to visit better known, as well as more remote regions and the opportunity to embark on exciting dawn and dusk jeep safaris for the chance to spot some of India’s most elusive wildlife, including the rare black buck, chinkaras, nilgais, civet cats and tigers. On this itinerary guests will witness all the colour, culture and beauty of Rajasthan as well as getting away from the madding crowds.

Enjoy Serene Beaches and Winter Sun in Kerala

Sandwiched between the Arabian Sea and the fertile hills of the Western Ghats, Kerala has with good reason been christened “God’s Own Country”. A land of beaches and backwaters, lush tea plantations and spices, it enjoys a cultural heritage that can trace its influences back to Chinese, Arab and European traders. The journey begins in historic Cochin, “The Queen of the Arabian Sea”, where there is the chance to enjoy its rich mix of Indian and European traditions including Kathakali dancing and Keralan cuisine, before continuing into the Western Ghats to the hill resort of Munnar.

Set against the backdrop of lush tea plantations, guests will then explore the wildlife and the rich landscapes of Periyar Tiger Reserve by bamboo raft and on foot, before boarding their own private houseboat to explore the beautiful and idyllic Backwaters. The end of the journey incorporates a visit to the coast to enjoy a little time sampling the golden beaches and azure waters around Kovalam.
