Welcome to the quirkiest 5 star hotel in Italy: Rhinoceros Roma

Weird, wonderful and aesthetically teasing – just some of the words guests have described this art-infused contemporary boutique hotel. The Executive Magazine takes a look at this luxurious alternative property.

Set in the heart of Rome’s historical centre, Rhinoceros Roma was established by Alda Fendi in 2018 and designed by world renowned French architect, Jean Nouvel. The property features a combination of contemporary and classic design, showcasing Nouvel’s infamous style. The apartments feature a modern, industrial impression where new-meets-old design details, juxtaposing classic Italian architectural elements with unconventional finishes to present an ultra-modern look.

Named after the impressive animal, Rhinoceros is a central neighbourhood within the city of Rome as supposedly bones of a Rhino were found on the site years ago. The establishment marks this fable with a vast, lifelike statue of a Rhinoceros.

The six-storey building – which features three expansive terraces and a rooftop restaurant – allows guests to combine living with experiencing art as the apartments are housed within a world-renowned art gallery ensuring guests and visitors can be fully immersed within the works of famed artists such as Picasso, Italian filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini and even Michelangelo. Exhibiting a rotation of such beloved and groundbreaking artists, Rhinoceros Roma integrates accommodation with creativity, inviting guests from all over the world to enjoy the displays with the gallery remaining open until late at night daily.

Home to 25 unique apartments – from spacious studios to penthouses – Rhinoceros Roma provides a haven for guests with a professional or amateur relationship with arts, literature and sciences. Allowing guests to enjoy Rome at their own pace, each of the apartments offer complete privacy, featuring large-scale kitchens that are fully stocked with crockery, glassware, fridges and modern appliances.

Personal butler service is available to ensure guests receive around the clock care, making sure they have everything they need throughout their stay so that guests can fully relax after exploring the sites of Rome. Each apartment includes indulgent amenities, luxury linen and state-of-the-art technology including Bang & Olufsen speakers to enhance the guests’ experience.

For those who are interested in enjoying the breathtaking view across the city, Rhinoceros Roma boasts a large rooftop complete with restaurant and bar offering the ideal place for guests to soak in the unparalleled 360-degree view of sites, hills and venerable old domes from up high. This terrace is also available for private hire should guests – or locals – wish to host an event.

Simone Moretti, General Manager of Rhinoceros Roma, comments “Rhinoceros Roma’s modern apartments showcase our fantastic offerings here in the centre of Rome. Now that appetite for travel has resumed and guests are looking for a more unique experience in a post-pandemic world, we feel it is the right time to showcase our brand to consumers in the UK and further afield.”
